(WASHINGTON, D.C., 10/3/07) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) was honored recently to accept an award of appreciation from the Arab Muslim American Federation presented at an interfaith iftar event in New York, NY.
On September 27, CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad accepted the award on behalf of CAIR. The award expressed “deep appreciation for your great efforts in Promoting Justice, empowering American Muslims, and enhancing the understanding of Islam.” Those attending the event included New York City Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties group, has 33 offices, chapters and affiliates nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
