Sameeha Rizvi, civic engagement organizer at the Council for Islamic Relations in Texas, said protesters wear masks due to the state’s hostile reception of pro-Palestinian speech.
“People have lost their job for being pro-Palestine, anti-genocide; people have been suspended from our school, banned from campus,” Rizvi said. “When this (interim) charge came up, it was very concerning for us (at CAIR) because we see the intention behind it and what they’re trying to attack.”
