CAIR: Man Guilty to Threatening San Diego Muslim Civil Rights Group to Appear in Court for Sentencing

CAIR logo(SAN DIEGO, CA, 12/14/15) – On Tuesday, December 15, 2015, a man who pleaded guilty to threatening the San Diego chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-San Diego) will appear in court for sentencing.

John David Weissinger, the 53-year-old suspect, was arrested, and let out on bail on charges of making a criminal threat and possessing, buying or selling an illegal large-capacity ammunition magazine.  Weissinger was released on $50,000 bail, he pleaded guilty in his last hearing and is scheduled to appear in court this Tuesday for his sentencing.

Following the sentencing, CAIR-San Diego will hold an impromptu press conference in the hall outside of the Dep. 31.  Representatives from CAIR, other community leaders, interfaith partners and supporters will be present to provide reactions.
