CAIR MI logo(FARMINGTON HILLS, MI, 2/15/2016) – The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) today announced the filing of a federal religious discrimination lawsuit against TriMedx, a healthcare technology management organization, and its parent companies, Medxcel and Ascension, on behalf of an American Muslim Egyptian biomedical technician.

The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan in Detroit.

The law firm of Carrie Pastor & Associates, P.C., is cocounsel on the case.  The lawsuit seeks, among other things, punitive damages, back pay, front pay and lost benefits.

“The company’s actions are clear attempts to force Mr. Hassane to quit his employment after expressing his Islamic faith for the first time in the workplace,†said CAIR-MI Senior Staff Attorney Lena Masri.
