CAIR Releases ‘Spread Love, Not Islamophobia” Video

CAIR logo(WASHINGTON, D.C., 1/20/16) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today released a short video asking Americans of all faiths and backgrounds to “Spread Love, Not Islamophobia.â€

In the video, a young Muslim woman says, “Don’t let the hate get you down, because there is much more love in the world.†It then quotes from a letter sent to CAIR by New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, who wrote: “Our nation was founded on a single, aspirational principle: ‘equal justice under law.’â€

The video also includes an audio clip of a phone call received by CAIR rejecting anti-Muslim rhetoric spread by Donald Trump and other public figures. It concludes by asking all Americans to take a stand against “hateful speech.â€

Viewers are asked to visit to download the “Spread Love, Not Islamophobia†graphic and then share it on social media.

The Washington-based civil rights organization produced the video as part of a larger response to an unprecedented rise in anti-Muslim rhetoric and hate crimes following the Paris terrors attacks, the San Bernardino shootings and the Islamophobic statements of public figures like Donald Trump and Ben Carson.

Recently, CAIR provided parents with a guide designed to help them speak to children after acts of violent extremism.
