CAIR Welcomes Approval of American Historical Association Resolution Condemning Israel’s ‘Scholasticide’ in Gaza

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the approval of a resolution by the American Historical Association (AHA) condemning Israel’s “scholasticide” in Gaza and the U.S. government’s funding of Israel’s genocide.

AHA members attending the organization’s annual conference voted 428 to 88 to approve the resolution, which says Israel’s genocide “has effectively obliterated Gaza’s education system,” and calls for a permanent ceasefire. The resolution will go to the HRA’s elected council, which can accept it, veto it or refuse to concur.

[NOTE: “Scholasticide” is the intentional eradication of an education system.]

American Historical Assoc. Votes Overwhelmingly to Support Resolution to Oppose Scholasticide in Gaza – Democracy Now!

In a statement, CAIR said:

“The far-right Israeli government’s intentional obliteration of the entire educational system in Gaza is a clear example of scholasticide. We welcome the approval of this resolution by the American Historical Association condemning Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s educational system and urge other organizations in our nation and worldwide to take similar principled stands against acts of genocide.”

Yesterday, CAIR said President Biden has “’normalized’ the genocide of the Palestinian people” after the freezing death of yet another baby in Gaza – the eighth such death resulting from the Israeli genocide and the Biden administration’s support for that slaughter, forced starvation, mass destruction, and ethnic cleansing.
