The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed Representative David Trone’s (D-Md.) support for a ceasefire in Gaza at a weekend meet and greet event in Lanham, Maryland.

Representative Trone now joins Representatives Kweisi Mfume and Jamie Raskin from the Maryland congressional delegation who have previously called for a ceasefire. CAIR is urging the remaining members of the delegation to add their voices in the demand.
“The catastrophic carnage and destruction in Gaza has decimated the region and led to one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world,” said CAIR’s Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry. “As we approach the one-hundred-day mark of the indiscriminate targeting and killing of tens of thousands of civilians in Gaza, and as Israel stands on trial in the International Court of Justice to face charges of genocide, we urge every member of congress to exhibit moral courage and stand on the right side of history by demanding an immediate, permanent ceasefire in Gaza.”
