CAIR Welcomes Indictment for Vandalism Targeting New Hampshire College Hanukkah Menorah 

(WASHINGTON D.C., 12/13/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a New Hampshire grand jury’s indictment of a New York man who allegedly shot out lights on a public menorah display at Dartmouth College during Hanukkah last year. 

Carlos Wilcox, 20, been charged with a Class B felony of criminal mischief. Wilcox, who is free on bail, is no longer enrolled at Dartmouth College.

“We welcome the indictment in this case and express our support for the Jewish community in New Hampshire,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “Whenever the symbols of any faith are targeted, all Americans must speak out in support of religious freedom and diversity.” 

He said the American Muslim community and CAIR stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, white supremacy and all other forms of bigotry.
