CAIR Condemns New Hampshire ‘Bounty’ to Catch Educator’s Anti-Racism Teaching

(WASHINGTON D.C., 11/15/2021) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a right-wing group’s $500 “bounty” to catch educators in that state who are offering anti-racism training.

The offer of a bounty by the New Hampshire chapter of Moms for Liberty came after the launch of a website to report violations of that state’s new law that seeks – like similar legislation nationwide – to ban the teaching of so-called critical race theory (CRT).

“It is bad enough that any state would seek to ban teaching about systemic anti-Black racism, but to offer a ‘bounty’ to ferret out those who seek to educate our nation’s youth about the harm caused by bigotry is beyond the pale,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper.

Hooper noted that CAIR has condemned efforts to ban anti-racism teaching in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, Iowa, Idaho, Utah, Missouri, and other states.

He said CAIR and the American Muslim community are standing in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, and white supremacy.
