(WASHINGTON, D.C., 7/31/15) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, announced today that it is partnering with Beats, Rhymes, & Relief and other organizations on the #BMORESUCCESSFUL campaign – an interactive day celebrating community and culture as Baltimore City youth prepare for the 2015-16 school year.
“Education is the passport to success,” said CAIR Maryland Outreach Manager Zainab Chaudry. “Students in Baltimore need basic supplies that will help them succeed in the upcoming school year. Our goal is to uplift spirits, strengthen the sense of community and help prepare as many students as possible for a successful year.
On August 15, organizers will hold a family-friendly block party in West Baltimore (SE corner of N Fulton Ave. & Presbury St.) from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The day will consist of painting new additions to a neighborhood mural, free food, free haircuts, and school supply distribution for children.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
